Overview

Welcome to the Inventory Management module documentation. This module is the operational core of the ERP — it tracks every item your business buys, produces, stores, moves, and sells, maintaining an accurate and auditable picture of stock levels, costs, and locations at all times.

Phase 1 — Setup & Configuration

Before recording any stock movement, configure the foundational data the module depends on.

Measurement Management

Define how quantities are expressed throughout the system.

  1. Unit Classes & Units of Measure — create measurement categories (Quantity, Volume, Weight, Length) and the individual units within each (Pieces, mL, kg, m). Every item is assigned a unit class; every transaction specifies a unit within that class.

Item Configuration

  1. Item Model Groups — define reusable templates that bundle a costing method (FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average, or Standard Cost) and a stockability flag. Assign one to each item to control how its value is calculated and how it posts to the General Ledger.
  2. Location Properties — configure the classification labels (purpose and type) that describe what kind of place a location is. Used for filtering and organisation.
  3. Inventory Management Parameters — set system-wide defaults for items that have no model group assigned, and configure auto-numbering sequences for inventory documents.

Master Data

  1. Categories — build a hierarchy of item categories used for classification, dashboard reporting, and filtering. Categories can be nested to any depth.
  2. Items — create the master record for every product, raw material, and packaging item. Each item carries its category, default unit class, model group, tax group, and capability flags (sellable, rentable, assemblable).
  3. Location Management — build your physical location hierarchy: company → warehouse → zone → storage bin. All stock transactions are tied to a specific location in this tree.

Phase 2 — Production Setup

Define the recipes the system uses to produce finished goods.

  1. Bill of Materials — attach a component list to any assemblable item. The BOM specifies every ingredient, raw material, and packaging element needed to produce one unit of the finished product, with quantities and units.

Phase 3 — Day-to-Day Operations

The operational heartbeat of the module — recording what is moving, being produced, and being adjusted.

  1. Movements — record the physical transfer of one or more items from a source location to a destination. Each movement is auto-numbered and creates a permanent transaction record.
  2. Assembly Orders — produce finished items by consuming components. Run a feasibility check first to see if components are available, then execute to deduct components and add finished stock in one atomic operation.
  3. On-Hand Inventory — the live view of what you have, where it is, and what it is worth. Drill down to per-location quantities, inspect individual cost layers, create stock adjustments, and manage reorder thresholds.
  4. Transactions — the immutable audit trail of every inventory event: purchases, movements, adjustments, assemblies, and sales. Read-only — transactions are created automatically by the operations above.

Phase 4 — Analytics & Reporting

Turn your inventory data into decisions.

  1. Dashboard — four tabs covering real-time KPIs, stock alerts and reorder status, inventory valuation and ABC classification, and aging with assembly activity summaries.
  2. Reports — six downloadable PDF reports, each scoped to any location in your hierarchy:

How Costing Works

Every item carries a costing method defined in its Item Model Group. This method determines how each purchase receipt is stored and how value is calculated when stock leaves:
