Trade agreement journal names

A Trade agreement journal name is the template that governs a Trade agreement journal. It groups a batch of pricing or discount rules under a reusable purpose and proposes the relation type and description new journals should start from, so you are not choosing a relation and re-typing the same description every time you open a new pricing worksheet - set up SALES-PRICE once for customer price agreements, SALES-DISC once for customer discount agreements, and reuse each whenever you publish that category of rule.

Creating a Trade agreement journal name

Navigate to Accounts receivable > Price and discount > Trade agreement journal names.

Select New and define, directly in the grid row:

  • Name: A short, unique identifier (e.g. SALES-PRICE, SALES-DISC).
  • Description: A clear explanation of the template's purpose. Proposed automatically as the description on new journals created from this template, and as the description column shown in the journal list before a journal is saved.
  • Default relation: The trade agreement type new journal lines start from - Price (sales), Line discount (sales), Price (purchase), Line discount (purchase), Price (rental), or Line discount (rental).

Select Save to commit the row.

A default, not a constraint

The Default relation only pre-fills the Relation (type) field on new lines - it does not restrict which relation an individual line, or the journal as a whole, can use. A single journal can freely mix lines of different relations.

Editing a Trade agreement journal name

Select the row and choose Edit, adjust the fields in place, then Save. Changing the Default relation only changes what a journal created from this template proposes for future new lines - it has no effect on lines already entered, and none at all on rules that have already been posted to the live pricing table.

Next steps

With a journal name in place, use it to create a Trade agreement journal and start entering pricing or discount rules.
