Insights and Inquiries

This page describes what you can currently ask the AI Agent about your financial data. It is a living document: it is updated every time a new question-answering capability is added, so it always reflects what the agent can do today, not what was originally planned.

For each capability below, the agent resolves any date range you mention ("this month", "year to date", "last quarter") itself, using the current date - you never need to supply exact dates unless you want to ask about a specific historical period.

Accounts Receivable

Customer portfolio snapshot

Ask for an overall picture of your customer base: total outstanding balance, total sales, total profit, average profit margin, total customer count, how many customers are new this month, and average credit utilisation across the portfolio.

"How is our customer portfolio looking this month?" "What's our average profit margin across all customers?"

Receivables aging

Ask how much of your outstanding receivables balance is current versus overdue, broken down into Current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, and Over 90 day buckets, along with the total overdue amount and overdue percentage.

"How much of our receivables are overdue?" "What percentage of our AR is more than 90 days late?"

Customers over their credit limit

Ask how many customers currently exceed their assigned credit limit - a quick risk flag rather than a full customer-by-customer report.

"How many customers are currently over their credit limit?"

Top overdue customers

Ask which customers are overdue, ranked by overdue amount - a worklist of who to chase, not a full customer list. By default the top 5 are returned; ask for more (up to 20) if you need a longer list.

"Which customers are overdue, and by how much?" "Give me the top 10 overdue customers."

Top customers over their credit limit

Ask which specific customers are over their credit limit, ranked by how far over they are - complementing the count-only question above with names and amounts. Also capped at 20, defaults to 5.

"Which customers are over their credit limit?" "List the customers exceeding their credit limit."

AR collection efficiency

Ask how efficiently receivables are being collected over a period: the AR turnover ratio (how many times receivables are collected and re-issued) and the Collection Effectiveness Index (CEI, the percentage of collectible receivables actually collected). If you don't specify a period, the agent defaults to the current calendar year to date.

"Is our AR turnover improving?" "What's our collection effectiveness this year?"

Sales vs. collections trend

Ask for a month-by-month comparison of total sales against total collections, for the most recent months. Defaults to the last 6 months; ask for more (up to 24) if you need a longer trend.

"How have sales vs. collections tracked over the last few months?" "Show me the sales and collections trend for the last year."

Top customers

Ask who your best customers are, ranked by sales, profit, balance, invoice count, or average order value. Defaults to the top 10 by sales, capped at 20. Based on lifetime customer values, not a specific date range.

"Who are our top customers by profit?" "Give me our top 5 customers by sales."

Accounts Payable

Payables aging

Ask for total outstanding vendor liabilities broken into your system's configured aging periods (the exact bucket labels depend on how aging periods are set up), with totals per currency.

"What do we currently owe vendors, broken down by how overdue it is?"

Accounts Payable overview

Ask for a single executive snapshot of AP health: total outstanding liabilities, overdue payables amount and count, how many draft invoices are still unposted, the rate at which early payment discounts are being captured over the last 30 days, and how many discounts are about to expire within 3 days.

"Give me an overview of where we stand on Accounts Payable." "Are we capturing our vendor discounts, or leaving money on the table?"

Top overdue vendors

Ask which vendors we're most overdue with, ranked by overdue exposure - names, amounts, days overdue, and contact information, so you know who to pay or contact first. Defaults to the top 5, capped at 20.

"Which vendors are we most overdue with?" "Who do we need to pay first?"

Top vendors

Ask who your biggest vendors are, ranked by outstanding balance, total purchases, or profit. Defaults to the top 5 by balance, capped at 20. This is always a lifetime snapshot - there is no date-range filter for this ranking.

"Who are our biggest vendors by purchases?" "List our top vendors by balance."

General Ledger

Trial balance

Ask whether the ledger is in balance for a given period - total debits, total credits, and whether they match - along with opening and closing balances. If you don't specify a period, the agent defaults to the current fiscal year to date.

"Is the trial balance in balance for this year?" "What were our total debits and credits last quarter?"

info

This answer is a portfolio-wide summary, not a full account-by-account trial balance report - it does not list every account, only the totals.

Financial summary

Ask how the business is performing over a period: total revenue, total expenses, net profit, and cash balance, together with the percentage change in each versus the immediately preceding period of the same length. If you don't specify a period, the agent defaults to the current month to date.

"How are we doing this month compared to last month?" "What's our net profit so far this year?"

Profitability trend

Ask how profitability has trended across the current fiscal year, one entry per fiscal period: revenue, expenses, cost of sales, gross profit, net profit, and gross/net margin percentages. Always the ledger's current fiscal year - there is no way to ask for a different year.

"How has our profitability trended this fiscal year?" "Are our margins improving period over period?"
